Chopsticks and Chillies

Flower Factor on Selby Road celebrate their second birthday on November 15th. In these days of recession and financial doom, it's nice to report on a business that literally is coming up smelling of roses.
Owner Jill Austin explains: “Like any new business it’s not always been plain sailing but we feel positive for the future. We’ve doubled the amount of weddings we’ve created designs for in the last year and also been featured in Wedding Ideas and Wedding Flowers Magazines. We supplied the flowers for the funeral scene in the film Tyrannosaur which was filmed locally and are working closely with Temple Newsam who recommend us to their brides for wedding flowers. We’ve just finished refurbishing our ‘Wedding Consultation Area’ and to win a trophy at The Harrogate Flower Show has capped a great year.”
Senior Florist and Shop Manager Allison Stables has worked with Jill since she opened The Flower Factor, she created the Chopsticks and Chillies design which won the coveted, Kathleen Bretherick Trophy:
“I’ve entered smaller competitions before but this is only the second time I've entered Harrogate. The spec was to create a wedding bouquet for someone in the catering industry, incorporating two things they would use, and chopsticks and chillies were my inspiration. I couldn’t believe it when I found out I had won.”
Meanwhile, for both Jill and Allison, it's back to the everyday creativity that makes The Flower Factor so special. They are still busy with Weddings and are also doing the rounds at Wedding Fairs at the moment, before stocking up on Christmas Trees, Wreaths and all things Christmas from the 1st week in December. They also offer a free wedding design service by appointment.
Busy as they and the rest of the team are, rest assured they’ll still find time to address your every floral need to add a touch of ‘The eXtra Factor’ to whatever you require.
